Ryan was born in 1979 in Minnesota. As a kid he wasn’t much of a reader until his brother handed him The Crystal Shard by R. A. Salvatore. That book sparked a lifelong love of fantasy and adventure stories.

Ryan later earned a psychology degree from University of Minnesota Morris, but the idea of writing his own stories never went away. He began writing regularly, attending conferences, joining a writing group, and eventually waking up two hours early each morning to work on his novels.

In 2015 he published his first novel, Rise of Raulet.

Ryan lives in Minnesota with his wife Rachael and their two troublesome cats.
